Ode to A Reese’s Wrapper

Poetry

So stoic and strong,

you guard your treasure.
protecting our fingers from becoming sticky,
our candy from its fate.
You ask no questions, make no complaints
sitting silently you rise to the occasion
when we hastily strip you from your duties
and toss you aside, forgetting your stolid efforts,
your stone-like composure, your simplicity
and your class
it is all forgotten as we gobble up our treat.
